History and Architect
Apotek House, home to Apotek Hotel, boasts a long and significant history spanning over a century. Built in 1917, it originally housed Reykjavik's first pharmacy, designed by Iceland's renowned architect Guðjón Samúelsson, who also designed Hallgrímskirkja and the National Theatre.
Over time, the building has served various roles and remained a focal point in the community. It was admired for its beautiful architecture and quickly became a landmark in downtown Reykjavik. In recent years, the house has been restored and now hosts the elegant Apotek Hotel, blending historic heritage with modern comforts. By reviving the old charm of the building, Apotek Hotel offers a unique experience where history and contemporary luxury converge.
